THE INQUIRER
Incisive Media has announced it will be closing The Inquirer at the end of this week. The tech news and satire website was started by Mike McGee in 2001 before being sold to VNU and on to Incisive, but despite healthy readership, the decision has been taken to mothball it, following falling ad sales. The site will stay live in archive form until March 2020. Editor Carly Page and Associate Editor Chris Merriman have both left Incisive Media as part of the closure. Other Incisive Media titles including sister site Computing are unaffected by the closure.

Nottingham Post
Editor Mike Sassi is leaving the Nottingham Post after six years in the role. Natalie Fahy, current Digital Editor of Nottinghamshire Live, will succeed him in January. The Sunday Times Style
The Sunday Times Style has appointed its first beauty influencer, Ava Welsing Kitcher, to host and present a new beauty series for Style. Ava will be the Deputy Beauty Editor across print, video, audio and online working closely with News UK's newly launched Influencer agency the Fifth. She will create commercial branded content as well as authentic editorial content for Style. Reporting to STYLE's beauty director Sarah Jossel, Ava will be creating a new workflow for Style which sees its video aired on Style Play, YouTube and IGTV.

Freelance Update - Reza Amirina

Freelance Update - Katrina Megget
Freelance healthcare journalist and adventure travel writer Katrina Megget has now returned to New Zealand to complete the last 1,000km (621 miles) of the Te Araroa long-distance hiking trail down the length of the country. Earlier this year, she walked 2,000km before having to pull out due to a knee injury. She is walking to raise money for the mental health charity Mind and to raise awareness of self doubt and low self-esteem and their link to mental health problems. The Italian version of the international magazine National Geographic has now relaunched its website. The website has a renewed layout and a greater focus on news, interviews, insights and video content.

Nick Machin Prize 2019
The first Nick Machin Prize awards ceremony will take place on 16 January 2020 in Cardiff. The prize is dedicated the memory of Nick Machin, who tragically passed away as a result of a brain tumour in 2018. The event is open to young journalists from Wales and working in Wales, in recognition of Nick's outstanding commitment to mentoring young reporters. There are four awards in the event's first year: Young Journalist of the Year, Outstanding Story/Feature by a Young Journalist, the Nick Machin Prize for investigative journalism and the Nick Machin Prize for journalistic endeavour. Headlinemoney Awards 2020
Entries are being accepted for the Headlinemoney Awards 2020 to find the UK’s best financial journalists and money titles. The PR shortlists have already been revealed. The journalism categories celebrate excellence across both the UK’s extensive financial journalist community, as well as media outlets covering money, business and City matters. In a change to the previous nominations process, all financial journalists are now invited to submit entries. All submissions are free. All the category shortlists will be announced in March 2020 with final judging taking place in April. Winners will be announce at the 2020 Headlinemoney Awards ceremony at The Brewery, London EC1 on 6 May 2020.

PPA Awards 2020
The 2020 PPA Awards will take place on June 30th at their long-standing home, Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane. The Awards are now in their 40th year and celebrate the best in magazine media and business information publishing over the past 12 months.
