Channel 4 News
Channel 4 News has announced several appointments for their Leeds newsroom:
Home Affairs Correspondent Darshna Soni has been appointed to the new role of Communities Editor, reporting on issues impacting all communities across the UK.
Sunita Bhatti has been named as Channel 4 News’ first Head of Regions. Sunita currently oversees the Learning and Identity team at the BBC in Leeds. Previously she was a News Editor for the BBC North of England team.
Helen Johnson has been appointed to the digital team as a FactCheck journalist. She joins from National World, where she’s a Senior Reporter, specialising in Health.
The moves follow the appointment in October of Sally Chesworth to the new role of Deputy Head of Home News. Sally works out of the Leeds newsroom, where her brief is focused on generating original journalism. Sally has worked on ground-breaking and investigative strands at BBC Panorama, Newsnight and File on 4.

Evening Standard
Saskia Kemsley
has begun a new role as SEO Shopping Writer at the Evening Standard, working on evergreen pieces and optimisation. Saskia can be found on LinkedIn.

Financial Times
Brooke Masters
(@brookeamasters) has been appointed US Financial Editor for the FT. Brooke will run reporting teams covering Wall Street’s largest banks and non-bank financial institutions and will coordinate coverage with the New York markets and deals teams. She will continue to write her business column and cover some of Wall Street’s biggest asset managers. Brooke replaces Gary Silverman, who is moving to Tokyo to become Business Editor of Nikkei Asia, the FT’s sister publication covering Asian business and finance. Before becoming US Financial Editor in 2021, Gary served two stints as US News Editor, overseeing the FT’s coverage of three presidential elections and the 2008 global financial crisis.

Gemma Swainsbury
has joined the women’s lifestyle commercial team at Future as Fashion & Beauty Director, working across Marie Claire and Who What Wear.

ITVX
When ITVX officially launches on Thursday 8 December, Deaf viewers will have access to what is a worldwide streaming first - a British Sign Language channel, solely featuring signed programming, which will include a range of shows like the Emmerdale and Coronation Street omnibus episodes, Cilla, Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow, Vera, Lewis, and The Saint. The channel will be regularly updated and will evolve to include both recent and archive programming from a wide variety of genres.

Debbie Luxon
(@debluxon) has started a new role as a Senior Reporter covering the East of England for SWNS. Debbie was a Community Reporter at Cambridge News until 2021, when she took a press advisory role with a Gypsy, Roma, Traveller advocacy group.
