The BMJ
Kamran Abbasi has been appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of The BMJ. He will take up the post on 1 January 2022, succeeding Fiona Godlee, who has been in the role for more than 16 years. Abbasi has been Executive Editor of The BMJ since 2016 and has worked in medical editing and publishing for more than 25 years. He is also a visiting professor in the department of primary care and public health at Imperial College London and a patron of the South Asian Health Foundation.

ELLE Decoration
Phoebe Frangoul has joined ELLE Decoration UK as Acting Commissioning Editor and will be working across the magazine on features as well as the style and lifestyle pages. Previously Senior Features Writer, Cat Olley is now Acting Features Editor (maternity cover), and is the first port of call for product and brand news as well as design-led travel and culture stories. Clare Sartin is Deputy Editor and will continue to edit the Homes section.

Greatest Hits Radio
Jackie Brambles is making a return to national radio for the first time in 27 years, as she joins the presenting line-up on Greatest Hits Radio from 4 January 2022. The Evening Show with Jackie Brambles will air every Monday to Thursday from 7-10pm, broadcast across the Greatest Hits Radio Network. Jackie joins the station full-time following the success of music series’ ‘Greatest Brits’ and ‘My Life of Live’ that she hosted earlier this year.

The Independent
Lizzie Dearden was recently appointed Home Affairs Editor at The Independent. Lizzie joined the paper full-time in 2014 and most recently served as Home Affairs and Security Correspondent. She can be found on Twitter @lizziedearden

The Jewish Chronicle
Jake Wallis Simons (@JakeWSimons) has been promoted to Editor at The Jewish Chronicle as former Editor Stephen Pollard (@stephenpollard) steps in an Editor-at-Large role. Jake is also a writer for The Spectator, a commentator for Sky News and a broadcaster for BBC Radio 4 and the World Service.

Irish Examiner

Midland News Association
The Midland News Association has ceased publication of the Lichfield Chronicle Week; the wider Chronicle Week series will continue, including the Cannock edition, which will maintain its presence covering the Burntwood area. The sister daily newspaper the Express & Star continues to cover Lichfield and the surrounding area.

Scala Radio
TV and Radio presenter Gemma Cairney will be joining Scala Radio to explore the world of classical music throughout January. Alongside classical music the series will also dabble in Gemma’s other musical influences and passions. The show ‘Gemma Cairney Gets Classical’ is on Scala Radio each Sunday from 2nd January from 6-8pm.

Silver Magazine
Silver Magazine, previously a digital title, has now launched a quarterly print edition. The lifestyle magazine caters to men and women aged 50+ and covers a range of topics including culture, entertainment, food, relationships and more.

The Sun
Katie White has joined The Sun as Editorial Assistant for the Consumer team. She will be working across online (for the Money and Motors section) and print, including the Sun Savers page.

Tyla
